 The Mount Carmel Baptist Mission is working to ease the pain
of the sick and injured, not only in "The Bottoms," but for poor
families throughout Choluteca.
We completed our
medical center, which
we named God's Loving Grace, in February 2004. It includes a pharmacy, a
dentist's chair, and several partitions where each doctor can
treat patients in private. A medical team from the U.S. spent a week
in October 2004 to provide our mission with its first free
clinic.
“It
has been a Godsend blessing because people came from miles," says Larry
Nash, our Teams Coordinator. "They
walked here just to see the
doctor and get some help and get some medication. It was an opprotunity they
wouldn't have had if they had to go to the public facilities or
clinics.”
Nearly
1,500 patients were treated. Our mission plans to organize a
free medical clinic at least twice a year.
